You need to fond a compression program that will turn the AVI File into a smaller file, like an MPEG or somethign like that

compression means to compress... not to change the format.

Gordian Knot will change video files to divx. You can make a 2 1/2 hr movie fit on one CD w/ good quality.

Windows Movie Maker (comes w/ windows) will change files .wmv which is readable in Media Player.

anything with it that will do what?

Just download Gordian Knot and find an online tutorial. Its complicated at first, but you will get the hang of it. Depending on the size of the file and your processor speed it will take a while. A 2 hour movie will take about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs to encode into divx. As you probably know, Divx files are still .avi but you can only read them in a divx player... normal media players will only play the sound and no video.

both normal .avi and divx have the extension ".avi" However, .avi is read by many media players and divx is a highly compressed media file and can be read only by divx players. However, once you install the divx codec on your system, divx files are readable in media player and the like.

It is 51 episodes. All together in divx format it is around 8 gig. Total length is about 25 hours. I don't think you are going to get it any smaller than that...
