Starting to buyfor the WU TANG PC.

Post by blittle »

Ok, I have decided to start building my next investment setting aside my hopes for a great car stereo setup. Im gonna mod a Coolermaster tower that I bought tonight.
Ok, Ive been doing some research and found some things that are within negotiable price. It will be fan cooled because I dont know jack about water. The first thing Im probably gonna buy is the processor. Ive decided to go with a 3.4 GHZ P4 with HT. Dont know where to get a board. It will have 2-3 hard drives, all seagate if 3 will fit. One will be for MP3s only being 300GB. One for the OS and thats only gonna be about 180 at the most. Im gonna try to fit another 300 if I can and my paycheck allows.

The graphix card i am looking into is the new ATI Radeon x850 or the x800XT. Both very pricy but its worth it i suppose. Im not a gamer but ill will be a gaming machine.

Open for suggestions. I havent bought anything but the case so far.

Oh yea, the side of the case, im gonna cut out a Wu Tang W and light it. Thats gonna be about it. I decided it would either the the Linkin Park dragonfly soldier which is almost impossible, the Slipknot S, or the W. The W looks cool and is pretty easy.

You can get mobos off of new egg (Ill be going with Asus but Jeremy said that he has had lots of luck with Albatron).

If you are going to spend the 450+ for a new video card, you might as well just get a Nvidia 6800 Ultra rather than a x800xt. The core and memory are clocked similarily, but the 6800 has more pipelines(16) than the x800(12). Atleast, I think its 12.

Dont go with the 6800's they have some duel monitior problems id just go with the 6600 ultras.

if its going to be gaming and u want to spend a little money , on a mobo, id just wait for the duel pci express ports on an intel board. Dam amd!!

but othr then that sweet. i hope to see it when ur done.

I dont care for dual monitoring, so that "problem" wouldnt bother me.

if one monitor has to go fuel screen life with a game or something it will just frag out and not load, its fine with movies and what not its just games will killer ur pc. unless all u play is call of duty, ive never had a problem with it unlike AA far cry or unreal.

but of some reason it still doesnt work with just one now....i need to keep working on it

Yeah, that is a major problem with all of the 6800 cards right now. The 6600 cards do not have this problem. The 6800 cards also have a problem with hard decoding some video.
