MY NEW HARDWARE...SUCKS! (edit) ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!111

Post by thefordmccord »

Oh well, I knew that I was taking a risk by going with the board that supported the older processors. I can not overclock at all with this board :( . I'm about to place a new order for another board and a new CPU. I guess I will throw this board in the closet with all of my other shampoo... I could send it back, but after I pay the restocking fee, and shipping it back, its not worth fooling with. I guess I could use it as wall art, or target practice! Then again, i might just use it for a little while. I noticed on my old board while I was taking it apart that there were 3 capacitors about to go bad. They had just started oozing stuff out the top of them.

I just hate it that I just spent like 400 bucks, and it feels like I have downgraded. It runs games a hell of a lot better with the 6600GT, but encoding mp3s and videos is slower...

shampoo shampoo shampoo!

Well, I just sent the motherboard back. I kept the video card and the memory. I just put all of my old stuff back in with the new memory. The new video card is sitting in the box for now.

The restocking fee on the board was 14 bucks, and it cost 14 bucks to ship it back. That kinda sucks on a part that only cost 100 bucks, but at least this way I don't have to look at it.

I will try to order another board and a new processor this week. I really don't want to spend 200 bucks on a new processor...

The only reason I went with the 2.8 is becasue it is cheap and it will clock to 3.3 on air. Sometimes higher. Besides, I am thinking about water cooling it.

Whatever makes it all come together to get the job done seems to make the most sense here. As for the extra whistles and bells, strictly for looks, right?

Well, as far as the water cooling goes, It does have a lot to do with the "bling" factor, but it also does a really good job of cooling the processor while being quiet. Lord knows my computer is far from quiet now...
